Volunteering at a World Class Tennis Event

As some of you know, I'm a long time volunteer with the Rogers Cup tennis tournament. This year will be the 13th year that I have been involved with the tournament. Every summer, the top men and women players come to Toronto to compete in the highest level tennis tournaments outside the Grand Slams.

I am one of the three committee heads for the Transportation Committee. This committee is in charge of providing transportation to tournament players, officials, guests and other VIPs, providing transport between the airport, the hotels, the tennis centre and any other tournament related sites. There are approximately 140 volunteers in this committee, out of a nearly 950 volunteers in total. It is a lot of work, especially before the tournament. However, it is also very enjoyable working with all the volunteers who care a lot about the sport to help make the Rogers Cup a success year after year.

While an unbelievable number of volunteers return, we are always looking for new volunteers, both within the Transportation committee and other committees. While I push my own committee because I happen to like it the best, there are other committees available if transportation is not your area of interest.

If volunteering for this event is something that might interest you, please take a look at the tournament's volunteer program page. You can find a description of the various committees, as well as a signup form at this page. The volunteer fairs for new volunteers are coming up (May 23 and 27), so get your registrations in as soon as possible to give yourself the best chance possible.
